Toong Minh Khai co-working space opens in HCMC
Toong, the first co-working space chain in Vietnam and invested by Indochina Capital, has announced the official launch of its largest facility - Toong Minh Khai - in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. US network infrastructure solutions provider looking at Vietnam
Panduit, a US-based global provider of network infrastructure solutions, has revealed plans to break into Vietnam next year, as ASEAN becomes the new manufacturing hub in the Asian region. Panduit is actively seeking partners and distributors in Vietnam to facilitate its operations. It has yet to finalize details such as investment capital and timeframe.
Innovative tourism startups sought
Saigon Innovation Hub has announced a contest for innovative startups in the tourism sector, with the aim of having scores of feasible projects seeking financial support for commercialization each year. The contest is to be made an annual event to identify startup projects with sound solutions, feasible products, and high technological content, aligned to the city’s tourism development. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Tourism will jointly organize the Ho Chi Minh City Innovative Startups in Tourism (HIST) contest.
Cao Lanh Bridge to open later this month
Cao Lanh Bridge, one of two major infrastructure projects underway in the Mekong Delta and linking Can Tho city with Dong Thap province, will be opened to traffic later this month. The bridge will be ready between April 25 and 27, Mr. Phan Duy Lai, Deputy General Director of the Cuu Long Corporation for Investment, Development and Project Management of Infrastructure - the project developer - told a meeting with Dong Thap authorities on April 10.
New L’Espace for Hanoi University of Architecture
A new branch of the French Cultural Centre L’Espace has officially opened on the campus of the Hanoi University of Architecture in the capital, as part of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. The branch plans to not only teach French but also become a place for meetings and exchanges and introduce French culture.
Organic tea production plant opens in Ha Giang
An organic tea production plant using the latest Japanese technology was opened in Tan Lap commune, Bac Quang district, northern mountainous Ha Giang province on April 12. The 4,500 sq m plant was built at a total cost of more than VND30 billion ($1.32 million) by the Hoang Long Tea Co.. Equipped with an automated production line, the plant is capable of processing 40 billion tons of fresh tea per day.
Coca-Cola to buy local sugar
The capacity of Vietnam’s sugarcane industry will be improved after the Vietnam Sugar Association (VSSA) and Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Co. inked a cooperation deal on April 11. VSSA Chairman Pham Quoc Doanh said that, under the agreement, 100 per cent of the beverage giant’s sugar will be purchased domestically. It will also develop sugarcane plantations so that female farmers can increase their incomes. Training is included in the cooperation deal.
